How it works

With our check processing solution, accepting payments by check is just like accepting a credit or debit card at the point of sale. Here’s how it works:

1. The customer hands you his or her paper check.
2. You run the check through a check imaging device, then hand it back to the customer.
3. The image is uploaded and processed through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, then electronically transmitted directly to your bank.
4. You receive funds in your bank account the next day.

In essence, the customer’s paper check is converted to a paperless transaction by electronically moving funds from the customer’s bank account to your merchant bank account. This program guarantees that 100% of the written check amount reaches your bank account within 24 hours.

Accept checks via phone

Our check processing solution also lets you accept check payments for phone orders. You debit the customer’s bank account based on their verbal authorization over the phone. Just log onto our provider’s secured server from any computer and enter the check amount and check writer’s information. No software required.

Accept ACH payments online

Higher Standards’ ecommerce solutions also let you accept one-time and recurring payments from your customers’ bank accounts. You process web-based electronic check transactions via ACH, using our virtual terminal gateway. It’s safe and secure

With our check processing solution, you don’t have to worry about accepting bad checks. You immediately verify whether a check is good or bad directly through your existing credit card terminal. The transaction is sent out to the network to verify that the check writer has not written bad checks elsewhere in the United States, and that funds are available. It’s a safe process that uses a secure bank system similar to those used for direct deposits and ATM transactions. The process is as safe and secure as a normal credit card transaction.
